December Daily 2011 - Days 16 - 20

I can't believe this week is going by so quickly and that Christmas is just around the corner!  The girls are on Christmas vacation and we've been hanging out. Our  TV is now, more than ever, permanently stationed on the Disney Channel. Every time there's a commercial on, the girls get up and dance - I'm so glad they're getting their wiggles out.

I'm happy to report that, for the time being, I'm caught up with my DD....kudos for that!

Here's Day 16

We went to go see Scrooge with our friends - it's become such a nice tradition

a picture of the girls with one of the cast members - he made the girls laugh during and after the show

Here's the other side of the layout. I included the ticket and a couple of photos of the theatre.

Day 17

No pictures on this spread. Instead, I decided to pass on some valuable advice that was given to me, by my mom, back in the day. I jotted down some verses of the book of Proverbs. The red letters spell their names.

This side had Dreidynn's name

and this one has Tristynn's.

Day 18

No photos in this layout either. The girls and I each wrote down some of our favorite things about the holiday season

I cut strips from patterned paper and wrote right on them

I'm really liking the word stickers that came in the Studio Calico Kit - I've been using them quite a bit and I'm not even close to running out.

Day 19

I'm not quite done with this spread. It was Tim's birthday, so I included pictures of him with the girls. We weren't able to celebrate his birthday because he had to go out of town for the week, due to work, but as soon as he gets back the girls plan on making him a cake - Tristynn was gathering birthday candles for him earlier today.

Day 20

On this day the girls saw their emailed video from Santa at his Portable North Pole

Dreidynn was all smiles during the video. She knows she's on the nice list...

... and here is the left page - Tristynn was hesitant to watch the video - she was worried about being on the naughty list. She says she was "...very, very, very, nervous!" She did make the nice list this year...barely!

Here's the back side of the pocket page. I've loved incorporating these, they're so fun.

There are just five more days left on this project - so glad I'm doing it. I may do the whole month - not quite sure yet - it depends on how I feel on the 25th. Either way, it's been fun. Hope you're enjoying it too :)

Happy Scrappin',

December Daily 2011- Day 15

Still trying to catch up with my DD. Here's my Day 15 spread

'Tis the season to go caroling falalala lalalala!

Here's Elf Dreidynn!

December Daily 2011 - Day 14

On one of my picture runs to Costco this week, I decided to get a bag of frozen strawberries for the girls. As soon as they saw them they started munching on them and asked me to make them a liquado. This is not a Christmassy drink by any means, but it's one we all enjoy.
Here's to the simple things in life that bring us happiness :)

Day 14 layout

I used mm felt letters - they're a little delicate. I'm liking the colors together though :)

Here's the front side of my little pocket page

The other side - The tag is from the Lost & Found line from MME

And the right side page - I used washi tape along the bottom - Luv it!

There are a few things I still need to do on this layout, such as trimming the pocket photos to fit the rounded numbers, stitching the felt letters and adding a couple of labels. I've decided that once December is over, I'll go back and finish adding the little details that are missing here and there. At this point, semi-finishing the pages is what's working for me and allows me to still enjoy this process.

I am a little behind, but I'm still having fun! Hope you are too :)

December Daily 2011 - Days 11 - 13

Yes... I've gotten a little behind on my DD. Not being able to print out my photos at home isn't very conducive to keeping this slow scrapper caught up. No complaints though - I just have to figure out how to get Costco to deliver my photos, from the previous day, bright and early every morning! (insert wink, chuckle, and magic wand! lol)

Here is my layout for Day 11

We went on a little train ride and found Santa there

I wanted to include more photos so I added a piece of card stock to my transparency, loved this in Ali's DD, I'd wanted to sew it, but had already adhered the photo on the back.

This is the back of the transparency page and one of my favorite photos of Tristynn - it captures HER. She's a very curious little girl - I know how tempted she was to go take a peek.... so glad she didn't!

We were at the very end of the train, so we got to see Santa as he came in. I was ready with my camera to catch the look on Dreidynn's face when she first saw him! Good times.

Here's the spread of Day 12

I don't scrap digitally, but wanted a collage-like photo of our Christmas decorations, so I ordered an 8 x 10 collage from Costco. Fortunately they were aligned nicely so I just trimmed this photo strip and have the other thinner strip for a different day.

Last year I printed these Christmas boxes on vellum - I think they were either a freebie from Ali Edwards or I got them at Designer Digitals.... either way, I LOVE them. I'm really thinking about getting the stamp set at Technique Tuesday.

I pulled out the ol' clunky typewriter to record some of the things that I'm loving right now. I love the photos, but it's nice to add something a little different here and there.

And last, but not least, here is a look at my unfinished layout of Day 13

It's of my eldest daughter's bday. Hard to believe my big girl is 26! I'll probably journal around the photos or frame them with sticker words. Also, I need to add a 26 somewhere in there.

I'm heading off to Bunco - then a run to Costco to pick up those photos that weren't here bright and early this morning!

Happy Saturday and Happy Scrappin',

Denise

December Daily 2011 - Days 9 & 10

Christmas is quickly approaching and we're in a crafty mode around here - well, the girls are. Right now they're making "tissue paper maracas" - two paper plates stuck together and filled with tissue paper and card stock strips. Me? Well,  I'm just parked in the living room with my Christmas scrapping supplies until the day after Christmas.

For Day 9 I focused on the girls decorating our gingerbread house

Here's the full spread

I wrote with a white gel pen on the photo

and here is the other side of the spread. I cut a patterned paper for the circle, stamped it using  Ali's 25 Moments stamp and drew circles around it with a gold marker.

Here's Day 10 - No photos

The girls wrote 10 things they are thankful for. Dreidynn's is the one on the left. She had fun writing on  vellum with scrapbooking markers - Can you tell?

and this is Tristynn's - I'm loving her choice of blue and black - I added some layers of blue ribbon in the bottom text box.

Tomorrow's Day 10 will be about a train ride we're going on later today. Until then....

Happy Scrappin',

Denise

December Daily 2011 - Days 5 - 8

Last year I put together these  Ali Edwards' Advent Action Cards for the girls. Every morning they'd wake up super excited to see what "action" they were gonna' get to do. Unfortunately I couldn't find them this  year, so I decided to dedicate day 5 to an Advent Action List. As the girls complete an action, they get to put their initial, in the circle, next to it on the list.

Here's my layout for Day 5:

Here's a closer look at the left page

I love Eddie Bauer and I loved that the tag was green, so I popped it in! The envelope says "Letters to Santa". The letters have yet to be written - hopefully this weekend.

I'm really having fun going through my stash to find goodies for the pocket pages.

It's hard to see, but the title says " Our Advent Action List". Hopefully we'll knock out a couple of these over the weekend.

For Day 6, I did a layout of the girls doing their homework

I've been wanting to do a layout about the girls doing their homework for a while now.  They're pretty good at getting to it and I wanted to have such an ordinary everyday activity documented.

They love reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but they only have Book 1. Maybe Santa will get them some of the other books in the series ;)

My spread for Day 7 is about Tristynn's second grade field trip to the fish hatchery

I'm so glad I was able to go. We learned a lot of interesting facts about Chinook Salmon - such as females on average lay 5,000 eggs and, in the wild, only 1 - 2 out of 1,000 alevin make it to adulthood. Thanks to the fish hatcheries, these salmon have come back from near extinction (sorry, the Biologist in me comes out every once in a while! lol). All in all, it was a fun little outing - Tristynn was so happy to have me there and I enjoyed not having to drive, for once, and being able to ride the bus!

And last but not least here's my layout for Day 8 - Photos with Santa

The full spread

Originally I was planning on die cutting this canvas material into a star or some other shape, but then decided instead to stamp my girls' initials and go from there. I stitched around the T and sewed on the buttons with baker's twine.

On this side, I omitted the stitching since the red ink stood out just fine.

I sprayed the overlay with Mister Huey's color mist in Holly Berry and framed the photos and journaling with Authentique Diction stickers, both of which came in the DD Studio Calico Kit.

Well there it is, for the next hour or so, I'm officially caught up! I hope not to get so behind again. I'm so having fun with this project and hope you are too.

Until next time.... Happy Scrappin',
Denise

December Daily 2011 - Days 3 & 4

We had a nice and busy weekend - a couple of girl scout events and a surprise outing for the girls. One of the girl scout events was Winterfest, where the girls get to make fun little crafts and shop for family and friends. Crafting and shopping-- how sweet is that!
The surprise outing was a visit to Santa's Secret Adventure, a 20 acre ranch beautifully decorated with tons of Christmas lights and used to host Santa's workshop, pony rides, carriage rides and hot chocolate and cookies. It was pretty cold out, but we still managed to have a good time.

Here's my Day 3 spread:

and here's Day 4:

I'm having fun with this project, I hope you are too.

Happy Scrappin',
